Mumbai, June 12, 2023– The Maharashtra Police have launched a crackdown on a high-profile drug case, leading to the imminent arrest of Ashish Mehta and Shivangi Mehta. The couple, who have been operating under the guise of digital currency bitcoin enthusiasts and businessmen, are alleged to be involved in running Ponzi schemes and facilitating drug distribution to a network of clients through parcel services.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint lodged by Naseer Khan, a courageous courier man, at a local police station in Shivpuri. Khan’s complaint shed light on the illegal activities being carried out by the Mehta couple. As a former trusted courier for the couple, Khan inadvertently stumbled upon the illicit drugs being transported in their parcels, prompting him to fear for his safety and promptly report the matter to the authorities.
An FIR has been registered against Ashish Mehta and Shivangi Mehta, and a thorough investigation is currently underway. The couple, who reside in Oberoi Esquire, Goregaon East, have been summoned to join the investigation. “The Police are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public by diligently pursuing and apprehending individuals involved in illegal activities,” said a member of investigation team, requesting anonymity.
